Hello!
Does anyone have a Gunline Octagonal Barrel inletting tool I could buy or borrow?  I need one to inlet a Rolling Block forend and everyone is out of stock.  I need it for a 1 1/8" barrel, by the way.  Thanks!

I've never used a octagon scraper but have done a few octagon barrels. If you are working with a blank, a router and a couple of bits do a lot of the work. Start with a flat bit close to the width of the bottom flat of the barrel. Use a guide on the side of the wood to keep it straight. Then grind a 90 degree bit to so the angled side is the width of flat that is at 45 degrees and as you get to depth you will form the sides as well. This works for tapered barrels if you set up right. Then a small flat scrapper will finish the job.

I made one for inletting a 1" barrel for a muzzleloader from a piece of 1" x 1/8" CS barstock. Marked and ground to 45* on both sides. Bent the end a bit and filed and sharpened it. Worked well. Just keep it sharp. No reason you couldn't do the same thing with 1 1/8" barstock.
