Does vinegaroon weaken stitching from the acidic component?

I've begun to wonder if I should modify my sequence to: dye then neutralize, and rinse, THEN glue, drill, stitch. Thanks for help, Don.

You are going to find folks do it both ways.  As far as the vinegar weakening thread, I would doubt it.  They recommend using vinegar to set the color in cloth as well as use vinegaroon to dye wool black.  Perhaps in about 50 years you would notice a difference.

  Don, I haven't had a lick of problems with my stitching/thread, after using Vinegaroon, but you need to wax your thread, unless you use already waxed linen thread, as for how you put it together that is up to the maker, my work is done except for final burnishing and finish. If you follow the process outlined in our FAQ/HOW TO thread on making old time natural dyes, you will be fine.

Thank you! I wondered if I was concerned about nothing. Now that it is mentioned, I remember Mama using vinegar to set the RIT dye she used on cloth back in the 1960's. Hadn't thought of that in years. Sure miss my Dad and Mom. Don
