I slipped with a screwdriver and scratched a revolver!
What is a good small spot re-bluing product?
Do those Bluing Pens work?
Thanks,
ZVP

I've used the pen for small scratches on 1911 (stupid scratch) on parkerized guns with good results. On blued guns I have a Hoppes gun blue kit that comes with every thing. I've used others though and most are the same really. They do work well also just a bit more involved than the pens are but also do a better job though more time.

 Thanks,
I guess you are right, there really isn't a shortcut to take here!
Might as well fix it right...

The pens are great for really small jobs such a single small scratch that isn't deep or fixing a screw that has been a bit marked. The cold bluing is best for larger areas such as more than a single scratch as in the case of a screw might do.

JMOHO here............

I consider small scratches, dings part of the character of a smokepole, after all they are a tool. `n` tools are gonna get marks no matter how careful you are!! even drawing from the leather will give wear.

Iffn yer gonna shoot it enjoy it cos its gonna get marks, or lock it away!!             Again................JMOHO

Just make a point of throwing the gun in your gunbox/toolbox whatever, pretty soon the scratch will be invisible :)
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Do the pen's actually cold blue or are they just Sharpie markers?

Willy,
The ones I have seen dispense a controlled amount of Cold Bluing, but I'm sure they have marker pens as well.  We used Sharpies to touch up aluminum.
