Hey, I am trying to get into Cowboy Action Shooting and am having a little trouble finding a rig. I am purchasing two Uberti 1851 Richards-Mason Conversions and am trying to get info on a source for some good rigs. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You came to the right place. There are a number of fine folks here that would be happy to build one to your needs.

Tell us what style you want, etc.

As far as style I'm not really sure. Just looking online for holsters I get so overwhelmed that I don't even know where to begin. Is there a good place to look so I could figure out the basic idea of what I am looking for?

Go through the Leathersmiths Show us Your Stuff posts that are on the top of this forum. Just find one you like, and let us know what it is you like about it.

I would figure out if I wanted a modern fast draw type, or a period correct rig first of all. That should help narrow it down quite a bit.Try to figure out if you are going to be a fast competitive shooter, or a period correct shooter.

That and figure out what shooting style you want to do; ie. Crossdraw, double strong side, etc.

Dalton shared some good advice and I might add one other thought to the list, decide what you can and are willing to spend on a complete rig.  Do not let your confusion overwhelm you, lets talk a bit and we can figure out the right questions for you to start asking.

Yep. SB hit a good point. Price is a factor as well.
I know most of the pards here are going to be priced less than some of the "known" names in leather, but could have just as good of quality, if not better.

Didn't Johnny McCrae just do a holster for one of those? He obviously has the gun or pattern or both.

You generally need to cut a regular regular percussion pattern a little big on the conversions to allow for the ejector rod. Especially if its a Slim Jim with a fairly contoured fit.

It's easy to do even if you dont have the conversion gun, I tape a dowel rod to the barrel to use for fitting the holster.

A holster for a long barrel Ruger Single Six 22 works on those, or at least mine does. Gun Click Rick has one of those in a Cheyenne pattern.
