ZVP, it's understandable being concerned about the loads just getting into the sport. In fact, I recall reading that Colt stopped producing fluted cylinders on the 1860 Army after the start of the War because of ruptured cylinders. Modern steels now eliminate this concern. I normally use about 20 gr. in my Navies simply because it seems to be a bit more accurate for me. I have heard of true idiots that use 'duplex' loads in revolvers (i.e. smokeless and b.p.). It goes without saying this is not a good idea.
The first step of becoming a good shooter is knowing which end the bullet comes out of and being on the other end.

 Drayton,
That's about the same load I prefer. I use 20 grains inmy Brass framed .Piettia .44 and .22 igrains in my Uberti London.
Both are the most accurate for use in these two revolvers and eachis very easy on the brass frame and on my hand as neither has any appreciable recoil. The use of Filler (Cream of Wheat) varies from gun to  gun. Some seem to prefer to have the ball farthest forward some don't care.
Caps andover the powder wads make some difference, again each gun is different.
In my Remingtons I use 2 different loads One likes 30 gr and one likes 22-25. One needs filler one dosen't.
Right now I am going to go on a quest for a decent batch of "real" Black Powder and see just what everyone raves sbout the stuff? I think I got a poor batch of Goex giving me false impressions of just how BP is supposed to preform.
To be honest I do likesome of the Substitutes and get good preformance with  them.
BP is definately a world in itself, very different from Smokless!
I really enjoy shooting round lead balls so far and I still need to try some conicals to see what they're all about.
Shooting BP is very relaxing and the pace of loading gives you plenty of time to "play" with various combinations.
I am having a ball with both the beautifull guns and the handloading of every shot!
I'm really glad to be doing BP with these good alloys of today.
