Since I'am new to this sport and I have made a nice investment in a Uberti High Wall and a  Uberti Schofield
and fully intend to shoot only Black powder and lead bullets . When the lead ban comes as well as the Black powder
ban will I be able to adapt my guns to no lead bullets and smokeless powder for the 45-70 and .38 special .
Will this sport survive the coming bans ? Today I just ordered from MidSouth a hundred dollars in casting equipment .
I understand I will not be able to use BP under jacketed bullet , is this correct ? I'am just trying to prepare for the near future based on the current political climate . Thanks

Mako

brudford ,
I have shot jacketed bullets for grins, but you really need the lubrication groove to keep the fouling soft.  It does much better with lead, so why use a jacketed bullet?  If there is a ban on lead projectiles, you will see polymer composites or some other solution for bullets.   I may even make something to sell.  And for the propellant, there are alternatives.

Lastly, they'll get my Black Powder when the scrape the last grains of it out of my teeth.

Ah My Dear Mako -

you really must make  a pilgrimage to "The Fort " Restaurant outside of Denver Colorado. It is a replica of Bents Old Fort and specializes in Prarie and Mountain Man Cusine of the Fur trade, such as Roasted Bison Marrow Bones  and Braised Bison Tongue.
I do believe you might enjoy their Trade Whiskey, whiskey flavored with black gunpowder, tobacco and red pepper.

They already have Bismuth shot for old side by sides, etc where lead is banned for hunting, I would imagine lead would be replaced with something suitable if it came to that (mind you it would never work as well as plain old lead).

As to the banning of black powder why would that come about? I wouldn't have thought that it was a poluttant as such.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

My local shooting "friends" have jokingly offered to sell me some of their "carbon credits", if such nonsense were to be implemented. So that I may continue my BP affliction addiction.
