When I see the configuration in the picture, is the belt repeatedly turned so that you keep stitching in the forward position, or is reverse used?......or are both methods used?
I believe I'm ready to give this a go.

I've also thought about stitching the loops to a separate strap of leather, then when finished, stitch the strap of loops to the belt.
I don't see this method much, is there a reason? maybe not authentic enough??

Rayban when sewing the loops to another piece of leather it keeps the bullet from rubbing on the belt  making it easier to put in and out. KT
Cheer up things could be worse, sure enough I cheered up and they got worse.

I  stitch away from myself, but there will be times when it is more convenient to reverse that, if a piece can't be held in place so as to make it easy to work with, one thing I would like to point out, when sewing your loops in, and where you do your cross over, make sure you use a Freehand stitch groover and make it deep enough so the stitch will be buried, if you don't the thread will be worn out well before its time.
