I am going to order a few dummy guns for wet molding and the like. Are there any western type dummy guns out there? All I have found are Glock,XD, etc....

Thanks,

I  put a thread out for a 'dummy' Schofeild and did not get one reply .... maybe for Colts or Rugers ....

Try Duncan Customs, Inc., in Bay City, MI, www.duncansoutdoor.com .  They make all sorts of dummy guns, including Colt's SAA's, Ruger single actions. I don't think they have a Schofield, but they might make one for you. Don't know what that would cost.  It's been awhile, but the last time I checked, the dummy guns in stock were $45 ea.

In the past, various domestic gun makers would create dummy guns welded up from scrap parts.  These were welded up to conform with BATFE regulations.  But that was years ago, and some of them may have discontinued the practice. (You had to be a professional holster-maker to do it.)

Push comes to shove, just use an actual gun, if you have it in your possession, by placing it inside a plastic baggie.  Sometimes you'll get really lucky at a gun show. I picked up a Hollyweird fake Lemat at a collector's show. The crazy thing works just like the real thing, except that the chambers in the cylinder were real small, and the whole thing is made of pot metal!  ::) But it worked fine for fitting a holster.
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

Guys, check this out.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220755005023&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT  He has offerd a couple or so different gun castings on Ebay so far.  He is casting these from the same material that he does his embossing plates and rolls with, I think.  With some encouragement he may expand the new gun mold line, he has become pretty prolific on adding to his Ebay selection??  I know of no one else offering as many roll embossing plates as he does now.  At any rate he is a mighty nice feller to talk with fer a spell.  You can contact him through the following site. http://www.bunkhousetools.com/  He does sell direct and usually you can save money by ordering that way.

Thanks for the link, Bob. I saved that one. He may be a good source for us.

Try Western Stage Props, a company out of Las Vegas. I have not ordered any from them yet as there prices are a little higher than others in the auto dummy's. They do have a large selection of single action guns listed, colt metallic, black powder and others. The web site does not list every thing that they have or can get, so just email them or call and they can send you a complete list.

I haven't seen any western guns that are cost effective, for our uses, I remember in 1960 there were cast aluminum sixguns, and they were cheap, and a full variety of them too, today the guns offered are mostly modern weapons, I used some of the BB guns that are out there with good results, they claim to be exact in proportion to the real thing, and when they are on sale you can get them for around $20.00, but this doesn't help with the old six shooters we want , and paying a $150.00 for a none shooting replica is not cost effective.

Well, I have most of the western stuff in a real version, and dont mind wrapping them to wet mold. BUT, I woldnt mind having a 7" SAA, a Schofield, a Merwin, etc. The odd stuff anyway.

I do need some modern ones though, as the only thing I have that is modern is my Ruger Mk2 and my govt issue .45.
And it seems that the plastic gun crowd are the ones buying at gunshows around here anyway.

I got Duncans list up, and they do have quite a selection. Are they correctly sized? I had a cast Walker a few years back that fit loosely in my 51 Navy rig.
I noticed that a few other vendors have Rings guns available for much cheaper than direct from Rings. Still looking through those.
Thanks!

Model Schofield, Spanish made..I believe.  Made the grips from polymer clay.  Think it was about $60.  Action/top break works.  Look on ebay.
