I have tried Diamond Back and found it fine for Cowboy shooting.  I shot through 2lbs of it with really no issues at all - rifle, pistol and shotgun (normal cowboy range - no long distance shots past 25 yds)

I am not sure if i would say a "step below Goex" or not - to me it is consistent  ike Scheutzen but does not burn as clean and takes a little more clean-up time.

The reason I shoot Scheutzen over Goex is that it seems more consistent (i don't chrono my loads), burns cleaner and is easier to clean up after than Goex - of yeah and it is cheaper than Goex.

I will probably stay with Scheutzen for my rifle and pistol, but can't imagine not getting Diamond Back for my shotgun, especially since I am eyeing an ole remmie sxs hammered 10 guage!:)

The guy I have used in Winchester VA carries, SWISS, Schuetzen, Goex and Diamond Back.

I've been using Diamondback for the last 6 months in my shotguns, 44-40 rifles and 45 Schofield pistols and it works fine. Haven't found clean-up to be any worse than Elephant, GOEX, KIK, or Graf's house brand.  I only shoot cowboy, not BPCR. And last I checked the Haz-mat charge was the same per package, no 23 cans is less than 25. Must be the seller, not UPS.

There's a glitch in Grafs online ordering on the blackpowder hazmat. While it does show that if you order over 20 lbs they charge a double hazmat, in reality they don't. I just got the last case of Goex cartridge they had , and went thru this. When the invoice came in the box, the hazmat was only the 25 $ and not the 50 qouted in the shopping cart.

4 of us went together and bought a case of Diamondback.  We shoot NCOWS with pistol tgts 15-20 yds and rifle tgts out to 65.  At these ranges it works just like GOEX.

BTW, I did pick up 5 lbs of Diamondback 3F last spring & find it very suitable for C&B pistols. Still have a good supply of KIK and even Elephant 2F, so it may be a few years before I get around to trying Diamondback in that granulation. Will report back if/when I get a chance to chronograph new loads for comparison.
