Shiloh #3 sporting rifle.............

Last july i purchased a #3 sporter from Shiloh Rifle in big timber , montana. 28" std. octagon, #111 globe front , mva mid range
soule tang, std. wood, checkered steel shotgun butt plate. 45-70 pill.    would be awsesome to go on a bison hunt out west.
have only shot 405 gr. hardcast and smokeless so far. i know it's a sin.  plan on getting the holy black stuff... i think it woud be a lot more fun. would like to get 4 more in different configurations. man that's a lot of $.

That's the trouble with these things.  You can never stop at just one.  I got my hands on a used #1 Sporting model, and after the shock of dumping that kind of money into a rifle wore off (about 20 minutes and one shooting session), I wanted another.  So at first opportunity (meaning squirreling the requisite amount of cash away), deposits were made, and the rifle will be ready soon.

Best part is I already have designs on the next one.  Can't tell you what it is.  It's a secret.

        Me too. I also picked up a #3 last spring, but with a 30 in. heavy Oct, and Semi-fancy wood. Like Short Knife, I'm also planning for the next one. Ya don't grow up, your toys just get waaaay more expensive!

I ordered a #1 with a patchbox and pewter nose cap.  I think it arrived at my FFL last week, but both of us are TDY.  I have no idea when I will be able to get my grubby little paws on it.

I have a #3 Sporter,,MVA tang sights, 30" heavy barrel, nice wood, pewter nosecap, steel checkered buttplate,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and it's nice.

BUT, let me tell you about the '74 Military Rilfe I got in 45-70 ! Man, is that the hunting rifle ! Balanced perfect for a 'carryin' Sharps',,even correct with it's sling swivels.

Sometimes, I wish I'd gotten a 50-70...............but hey,,,excuse for another Shiloh !
