Peitta Remington and Colt C&B revolvers legal?

I have a friend wanting to start shooting and is looking at either the Remington New Army or the Colt 1860 army that Cabelas has. They both appear to be acceptable replicas to me but I wanted to ask if they are legal before he buys one. I'm not talking about the brass frame, I'm asking about the steel frame with the 8 inch barrel. Plus I have one of the Remingtons of my own and may like to shoot it sometime :D
