I have two a new model Uberti Cattleman and an older Armi San Marco with both doing the same thing. Now it is as you cock the hammer there should be 4 points that the hammer locks however the 3rd notch doesn't hold. Now if the trigger is pulled at this point the cylinder will move to the fire position however the gun will lock up. To unlock it I must remove the cylinder, cycle the hammer to the second notch or load position and put it back together. I wouldn't have probably noticed this except for extensive testing with all positions of what happens with the gun in the 4 positions.

Howdy Joec,
On colt-style actions the hammer does not lock into place in 4 places, only in 3.  The four clicks are safety notch, half cock, bolt popping up into the cylinder's bolt slot lead-in, and bolt dropping into the cylinder slot (full cock).  The hammer does not lock into place on the third click.  Your guns are fine  ;)

I know it clicks 4 times and my Uberti when new actually locked there as well. With that said I will go with that and not worry about it then. Thanks

Howdy again,
If the Uberti locked on the third click when new, then probably the timing was late on the bolt popping up.  So by the time the bolt popped up the hammer was already catching in its full-cock notch (it shouldn't).  Then when the hammer was pulled back a bit more for the 4th click, it is still catching in the full-cock notch. Over time and use the bolt leg wears and the bolt pops earlier, more where it should have in the first place.  That would be my best guess.

Thanks again Abilene I wasn't sure if they are working correctly or aren't. They both shoot good just wasn't sure is why I asked.
