Been reading an following Darksider for some time and have now logged in.  Would like some feedback.  I bought a 10 gauge off GB with no identification marks. I am thinking it is a H & R, IJ or Forehand Wadsworth but would like to narrow it down.

Single barrel Damascus??
Nickle plated receiver
German Silver opening lever
Lever moves the trigger guard down to release the barrel
Less than 4 lbs
Full length chamber
Hinge pin is threaded
Only numbers are 658 at a few different locations
No proof marks

Any help would be appreciated!!

Plated receivers and levers - and just the serial/assembly numbers present pretty much put it into the 'foreign' category - likely made for the hardware store trade.

American manufacturers marked their products - and if made for a store - marked it with that name.

Look more carefully - with 'strong' light - or outdoors on a sunny day - and you may see markings atop the barrel or on the receiver.

In the case of the receiver - they may've been filled in with the plating - though judging from the amount of missing/worn plating, I'd tent to think it was a wash or electroplated.

Finding a replacement buttstock is going to be an adventure - try Gunpartsco.

Good Luck.

I f you haven't already, there are a number of forums out in 'cyber-space' that deal with shotguns only. A while back I had a question on an old double and was advised of this. Just type in shotgun forums or whatever and a number will 'pop up'.

Less than four pounds ya say?  She's got to be rite lively to shoot, eh?  If that barrel is truly Damascus, I'd be rite careful about shooting anything but Holy Black in her.
