I haven't posted any pics in a while so I thought I'd show these two I just finished.

First one is one of my Cheyenne pattern holsters with a cartridge/money belt for 45. It is for a Colt SAA but I took the pic with a new vaquero I had laying in the shop. I did this one with walnut husk stain.

Second one is my Montana style pattern that I modified and lengthened slightly to accommodate a Blackhawk with a 6 1/2 barrel. It's with one of my standard billeted cartridge belt for 44 mag cartridges. I dyed it with a mixture of fiebings pro oil dye and saddlers oil topped with Bag-kote.

Those ar beautiful, Cliff. I kept going back and forth thinking, "I like the color on this one best." They're both very fine work.

Thanks everyone, I really like both colors myself and don't know which I like best. The second one is something new I just mixed up. It has a pretty good dab of Fiebings dark brown pro oil dye and a dash of medium brown mixed, cut it in half with denatured alcohol and then mix even parts with saddlers oil. I have no idea if I can ever duplicate it again once this batch is used up but I have about a gallon of it.

The walnut husk stain is just hard to beat for the look of russet leather that has just aged. Since we have had so much winter weather this one didn't get hung out in the sun to dry which is how I usually do it. I hung it in our patio door so the sun could shine through on it. In person the money belt really has a nice rich yellowish brown hugh to it that in my opinion just looks like leather should. I darkened some neatsfoot oil with some brown stain and use that to get the darkened areas around the edges and such.

Yep, I'm certain of it, the walnut husk stain is still my favorite. I think ???  :)

Hey Cliff, very nice work on both rigs. You guys ought to check out Cliffs website if you've not done so yet.

Can you tell me weight leather you used on the money belt? I'd like to make one using veg tan.

Thanks Cliiff, JD

Thanks again everyone and hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

JD, I had that side split to 3-4 oz. It measures closer to the 4 oz. It's very supple.
