Howdy Pards,

Has anyone had any experience and/or heard of any problems with the Uberti 85 High Wall in 38-55?

I had one and it was alright, but if I were buying brand new I'ld get one of the Winchester/miroku built limited editions that Davidsons ran, fit, finish and barrel are much better.

Ranch is right. I have a winchester/Miroku in 38-55; it is as Ranch described.

In fact I have eight of those things. Well I should say I have five High Walls and three Low Walls to be persactly pogo correct.

I really like them for quality of construction. I don't think they can be beat, for a factory rifle.

Here's some targets shot with the Uberti ... http://www.shilohrifle.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13911
I've also used the same Uberti and recipe on steel targets. Really enjoyed knocking the Rams down @ 500 meters
And how's this for out of the box wood?

Was I lucky?  Could be!

John Boy,

How have you been?  I was hoping you would chime in on this question...and yes that is some nice wood.  I think I will stop in at Taylor's the next time I go to Winchester VA. and take a closer look

Outrider, regards.  One day at a time and not as much BPCR shooting as I would like to do.
When you go to Taylor's, open as many boxes as they stack on the counter.  If you find one with a lot of grain, look carefully for any hair line cracks at the tang.  The boys in Italy are heavy with the leather mallet putting the stocks on.  This one had one but Super Glue and a micro drill ... only I know it's there

I have zero complaints with the rifle.  Fit to finish is very good, I lucked out on the wood and best of all ... it shoots very good groups with the bullet recipes I'm using.  Has about 300 rounds through so far.  It likes heavy bullets in the 300gr range
Good Luck and Enjoy

John Boy,

Thanks for the info...I currently have a C. Sharps 1875 short rifle in 38-55...I will try the heavier bullet advice.  I now see that EMF has the Pedersoli 85 Highwall on sale....hummm...it's also a possibility.

If I don't talk with you  have a good holiday season.  How are things in the Garden State?  I have been gone from there 11 years now.

Why, Thank You Outrider.  The same to You and Your Family
How's Jersey?  No better than it was 11 years ago.  I would be out of here in heart beat except for the Mrs and the grand children.
The Pedersoli is a good rifle - match quality bore
