gunfighter style, How important is a matched set of pistols?

Old thread but I thought I would toss in my 2 cents. I"ve shot gunfighter for two years now with miss matched pistols. Right hand 7 1/2" OM Vaquero, left hand 4 3/4" NM vaquero both in 45 colt. I can't say how inefficient it might be, because I haven"t tried it any other way, but it hasn't kept me from being competitive in the the matches I've gone too. My hope is to find a matcheing OM vaq. for my left hand and when I do I will post an update. I guess my point is different pistols shouldn"t stop you.
