Been going through some of my old stuff in the shop that seldom sees the light of day and thought I might post some of the old stuff.  Below is front and back cover of an old How-To book on gun leather and accessories, anyone ever see this one before?

I found a cute little gadget thet I hadnt spotted in a short while and hope to post a picture of it soon.  It is a cute little puncher that moves the leather along as it punches, similar to a sewing machine walk.  It punches about a 1/16 to 3/32" slot hole as it walks along and the hole spacing and edge spacing are adjustable.  Though it is not something I would probably use, it is cute and Im not sure why it isnt still produced.

Yes I liked the book well and even made a couple of holsters with the patterns, back when.  The patterns are still there but I do not remember how well I liked their results???  Dang hard gettin old and fergetful.  Several good old books can no longer be found and I considered them treasures but swapping out wives makes it hard to keep up with the inventory!

Now for some important stuff.  Guys I happen to have a birthday coming up in a few months or so and being the nice guy I am I took care of my own shopping to keep yall from fretting.  Here is yore shopping list BUT I fear the price may go slightly higher than the starting bid!   I know yall want to see it on my bench bad enuff not to even consider the final price!

This is the small hole punch I talked about.  The piece of leather is 6/7oz veggy tanned.  It worked on a piece of 8/9oz also but felt overloaded to me and the piece you see actually seemed like a sluggish feed compared to the crisp snap of 4/5oz leather being walked along.  Please do not laugh at my corner turn, its just like the corners I sew on my holsters with the big TORO!!!  It has the following ihfo on it; D.D.DUNCAN  LEVER PUNCH  and includes a patent number, no date.  It functions well though the light weight presser spring is badly rusted and broken in one place and overall needs a good cleaning.  The spring is very light weight and might be replaced well with one from the inside of a heavy duty tape measure BUT spring bending is beyond my area of specialty (couch tatering).  Though I have no use for it, I think it would be good for stitch holes in medium to light weight bag and pouch construction, especially black powder items made from suede.  My oldest grandson may end up with this as part of a leather working tool set for Christmas.  Anyone know anything about these old toys?

That's a real interesting looking gismo Bob. Where in the world did you come up with it?

Actually it came from Ebay JD.  It been a long time back since I got it but I have seen one more there a few years back and would have bid on it but it got to high for my wallet!  I have heard a couple of guys talking about using their sewing machines to hole punch the main seam and then actually sew it by hand, wouldnt a bigger heavier version of this be perfect for that?  Who knows, perhaps they originally had diamond points available in addition to the tiny chisel points???  I have seen items that I thought were less practical stand the test of time while these little gadgets went away.  Oh well, mine is not to reason why!

If I could find them, I had saved some neat gun magazine leather articles.  I know one was on building holsters with sight tracks, similar to the old Safariland sight track.  There were others on specialty gun leather and even left field stuff like covering gun grips with suede.  If I uncover any of this next week I will let you know.
