Does anyone happen to know that the increments on the standard step type buckhorn sight elevator are?
24" Oct. barrel in .44-40

The increments are irrelevant since Uberti uses the same elevator for all calibers.  Bullet weight, velocity, etc. all change the trajectory so the only way to find out is to shoot the gun at different ranges and see how much the steps change elevation for your particular load.

The original Winchesters were very neat.  You sighted a .32, .38 or .44 WCF at 25 yards on the lowest step on the elevator by adjusting a sliding plate in the rear sight.  Each step on the elevator moved the point of impact out in 25-yard increments.  I have tried this with several original Winnies and found that this were very close.
Model 94 cartridges were the same except that the base was 50 yards and the increments were in 50-yard steps.  This information comes from RL Wilson's 'Winchesters'.
I enjoy shooting my Uberti's in competition, but I carry an original '73 or '92 when hunting for this reason.
I have thought about working on the elevators of my Uberti's to make them work in the same manner.
