Widow of cowboy star Hopalong Cassidy dies at 97

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actress Grace Boyd, the widow of cowboy star Hopalong Cassidy, has died. She was 97.
Longtime friend Jane Mak tells the Los Angeles Times that Boyd died Tuesday on her birthday at her home in Dana Point.

As Grace Bradley, Boyd appeared in some three dozen movies in the 1930s and '40s but gave up her career when she married Hopalong, whose real name was William Boyd.

As a schoolgirl, she's had a crush on the movie actor. When they married in 1937, he was 45 and she was 23.

Hopalong died in 1972 but his wife continued to promote the Hopalong character, appearing at many tributes
