Needing a little advice. Fellow has a second gen, serial # 169xxSA, 45, 4 3/4, nickle with some parts gold plated. I've not seen it and he doesn't have in front of him. He says to the best of his recollection the Ejector Tube, the trigger guard, the front sight and the hammer are gold. He doesn't recall anything on the barrel other than calber and Colt , so I don't think it is a commemoritive. It also has MOP grips, don't see a Colt emblem on the small pic he provided. Is this a valid factory configuration for the 1958 time frame? What would you venture to say it would be worth? He says there is one small 1/4 by 1/4 inch spot where the nickle has lifted. He does not present as unfired, and no box is available.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sagebrush Burns

With that serial # it sounds like a regular production gun.  Gold plated parts as described would be either a special order (verifiable by the factory) or after market additions.

Shotgun Franklin

Is he selling it as a shooter or collector piece? In the condition you describe and having been shot I'd only buy it as a shooter.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.
