Here is a shotgun!

: EXTREMELY RARE : Predates Murkott's hammerless patent of 1876 by 11 years...  May very well be the earliest Breech loading, center fire, hammerless shotgun ever made...
Made in 1865 by Roenne of "Charlottenburg" - now a suburb of Berlin. Profusely and well engraved... Chain Damascus 16 ga. barrels have only a few external blotches... Bores are in excellent condition... Stocks have 90% finish...Opens on Dreyse system with under lever safety... Does not have extractors, has a ramrod for removing cartridges... Barrel length 31"... L.O.P. - 14"... Drop at Heel - 2 3/4"... Drop at Comb - 1 3/4"... Weight - 7.8 pounds...    $52,500.00

For an old gun like that, I wouldn't pay a nickle over $50,000.00.

And I'll save $2500, that doesn't happen everyday. ;D

Dr. Bob

Rick,

It is indeed a nice shot gun.
I've been waiting for you to tell us something about it.
Who is it made by or imported by? Any names on the top rib or lock plates?
I posted the information on the 1865 Roenne shot gun, because there is a surprising number of "old" shot guns out there that can be quite valuable. Then again, there are a lot that are not.
Tom Hunger, the fellow at Brush Creek Armory has the knowledge to help you find out more about your shot gun. Things like is it black powder or nito proofed, what is it chambered for, 2 inch, 2 and 1/2 inch role crimp, or 2 and 3/4 inch star crimp.
Just some ideas on keeping "Thunder & Lighting" happy.
