Hello, I'm looking at 56-56 Spencer and would like to know the pros & cons in this calibre, I have read most posts on this sight but allot are over 2 years old, is there still still a problem with finding moulds, Buffalo Arms looks to still sell the Cases, ( are these the ones everyone is using) also listed By Buffalo are Reloading Dies. Any opinions on subject greatly appreciated.

Thanks Dana

I don't know about bullet molds, now that Rapine is officially out-of-business. I used to cast them until I sold my 56-56 last year. The 56-56 brass from buffalo arms is great; the 4D-dies are still available and great.  The trick is finding a heeled .535 flat-nosed bullet mold. (or the .546).

I periodically poke around the internet for these, but haven't found any.  Does anyone have one?

OK
IF I were to try to get a new 56-56 mold, I'd need dimensions to go by...  Can someone please post the following information:

  • Inside diameter of BA 56-56 cases
  • Outside diameter of BA 56-56 cases
  • Length of BA 56-56 cases
  • Any dimensions on either a Rapine 546390 or 535380

'should have done this when I was casting them... :-\
Thanks!  :)
