Hello SSS,

I am working on a veteran's photo display using my slides from Vietnam.  I have two slides of the same subject - one slide is the original slide/photo, and the other is the same slide/photo, BUT modified digitally.  Which one, the original or modified slide, do you think would have the most impact for the viewer.  Just posting two different samples.  Your opinions, as always, would be very much appreciated.

Forty Rod

Keep the originals.  The almost colorless, grungy, faded and worn-out look is how I remember 'Nam.
People like me are the reason people like you have the right to bitch about people like me.

MJN77

I agree with Forty Rod. The originals have a gritty more realistic feel to them.

Hombre

Jobe Holiday

Definately the originals.

IMHO the modifications have given them an undesirable "cartoon" effect.

Contrast on the mods makes them look processed. Slides have a lot of contrast anyway. Maybe blend about 80% original and 20% mod in the first shot to tone down the washed out look a little. The second one really comes through just the way it is. The textures really make it. Great shot and excellent photojournalism.
