1.  On the Blakeslee Box, there's an external envelope.  What goes in there and where can I get one?

2.  Does anyone make/install Stabler Cutoffs on the modern repros?

Hi Badlands Beady,

The Blakeslee pouch probably was used to hold the Spencer screwdriver, brush w/thong and cleaning patches.  Other members of SSS may have other ideas and they will respond.

Regarding the Stabler cutoff switch.  The only place you might try for info on that question is SS Firearms. The link to their web site is http://www.ssfirearms.com/.  But maybe only for the 56-50 Spencer and not your 45LC model.

Are you joining SSS?

I've looked into someone who would install the cutoff, but with no success. Hopefully someone will have better info.

Guns fitted withe the Lane type extractor will not extract if fitted with a Stabler cuttoff,if you want a cuttoff on these guns you will have to fit a Spencer type cottoff,no machining needed on the action and easly fitted, just replace the cartrige guide with the Spencer cuttoff, any handy man ,gunsmith or machinest would have no trouble making one
