My Great-Great Uncle Henry did the same thing with his in the fall of 1935, he did not survive.  Showed this picture to my Dad before he passed on.  He took one look at it and said that they must have been pulling it.  See steam engigines don't like to be at that angle.  Great Uncle Henry went through a similar bridge and what was left of him was quite a ways from the bridge, but so was most of his traction engine.
