at the October NRA Cowboy SIlhouette Match in Ridgway, PA in the pistol cartridge competition. ;D ;D
That's probably only because the other fellows may have had a more difficult time seeing their targets.  ;D
Well....not really..... I just got lucky and some of the other fellows shot a bit below par. THey were shooting smokeless.

When I accepted my award, someone commented "I didn't know that black powder would shoot that good." Well, now they know.

Ammo: Ideal 358250 bullet (original 38 Special b.p. bullet) lubed with SPG / 21.5 grs. (original 38 Special b.p. charge) Swiss FFFG / R-P .357 magnum brass with the necks annealed. Remington 1 1/2 primers got things started.

Testing indicated that this load was very accurate at 100 meters (110 yards) for at least 50 rounds (most tested at one time).

Rifle: Marlin Cowboy Ltd  357 Magnum 24" barrel  tang sight

The match consisted of 40 rounds, 10 each at steel chickens (40 meters), pigs (50 meters), turkeys (75 meters) and rams (100 meters).
What fun! ;D ;D ;D

August,
The high score was 32x40. Mine was 30x40.  Most of the rest of the shooters were in the low to high 20's. Normally the scores are higher but beginning with this match, all of the targets were painted black (pic was taken at the July match).  I much prefer white targets since I prefer to hold on the target rather than use a 6 o'clock hold. That's what I will need to do in the future.
Black sights on a small black target are not sharp and distinct and I'm sure that the other shooters struggled with that a bit as well.

Border Ruffian,
Thank you for the kind words.
