I like the idea. I could buy my own medal, then add stars to it as (if) I win.
Helping people save some dough and having better events is sound reasoning.
Sounds like a good plan, Sir!!

I would say this sounds like a great idea, but then I am not officially a member of GAF yet.   :(  Maybe by the time of the Grand Muster in Lockhart in November, my name will show up on the roster.  :)

You're enlisted once you submit your application.  Getting the roster up to date sometimes takes a bit longer than anticipated (we are volunteers after all).

Looks like I have to make another update to the GAF Muster Guide!  ;)

It's a shame Capt. Neiderlander and I didn't have that conversation a couple of months earlier. :-\

This is a bit off subject and kick it out or to a different thread if it is.

I know that prairie flower makes the hat badges , collar tabs and some of the other stuff for GAF.  Is there anyway that GAF could get a BUNCH made up ahead of say the annual muster and have them available or have them for sale directly on the GAF website.  I tried contacting them a couple times over the past months and haven't heard back.

I know it would tie up some funds and I haven't figures that out yet.

Jerry,

In current Army lingo enlisted are indeed "acting."  Officers are "frocked"

True, but in the GAF we follow a 19th century practice, so our officer's are Brevet and our NCOs are Acting.  The exception is those officers of the GAF's Navy and Revenue Service; they are also Acting in accordance with the naming convention of the time.

Might I suggest that the "Champion" medal for Dept or Div be a different design than our standard class medals, and allowed to be worn in addition to the standard 3.  The medal design to be up to the Match director.  This is neither hard nor expensive.  I've got a dandy one made up for the MODIV muster, using a 3 stripe RWB ribbon and a Former keychain fob in the image of the great seal of Missouri. (counting the date engraved on the back I'm into it for around $20)  These should be Pin on chest medals, the only around the neck ribbon should be the Brigade Champion.

Another thing we're planning to do for the Department of the Missiouri Muster is award two traveling trophies, one for the Main Match and one for the Expansion Era.  I'm in the process of building the trophies now, using parts from old trophies so they'll be very inexpensive.  I'll post pictures when I get them built.  Since they'll be traveling trophies we'll only have to build them once, and I think I can probably get a friend to engrave the name and date of the winners for little to nothing.  It will give you something to put in your office or house to show your friends for the year.

Greetings, fellow Troopers.

Add my agreement to your suggestion, Col. Pitspitr.  I like your award certificate format as well, but I like the ones Col. Rattlesnake Jack uses even better.

Adding a star to an existing medal is a great idea.

Thanks for your work on so many issues!
