According to Western Shooting Horse magazine, Colt is now offering the Hard Chrome finish on their SAA's as another finish option. 8)

Hard chrome on a SAA!!??  ::)  That´s like engraving on a Glock.  ::)

It would benefit those who use black powder blanks a great deal or shoot black powder in general.

As for engraving on a Glock, I have seen it offered as a Custom Shop option in their recent Safe Action catalog. But that's a different thread.

I shoot nothing but real BP in my Colts as well as all other CAS guns and there is no benefit to using hard chrome. One only needs to follow a proper regimen of cleaning after shooting and wonder of wonders, there is no rust nor corrosion. As a matter of fact, real BP is far easier to clean than smokeless residue.  ;)

The Kid is right, there are SOOOOOO many misconceptions about BP. I shoot BP exclusively and it cleans up much easier than the heathen powders do. The Subs are blasphemous as well.
