Gentlemen,

I own a Model  98 Brazilian Mauser and have always liked firing it and the bullet characterisitics ...

I would love to have one that is also SASS accepted for BROW matches, but the only rifles I can find that are made in 7 X 57 Mauser are Ruger No. 1s and antique Remington Rolling Block Rifle (it looks like a low wall).

Are either of these (and I doubt the new Ruger is allowed at all) acceptable in SASS?

And would the antique be a good shooter if the barrel condition is listed as 'Good'?
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

I took a 1st Military Model and rebarreled it to .45-70.
The 7 mm Mauser RBs tend to have a long chamber. Leads to excessive case stretching, so they say.
I really liked my RBs and only sold'm because I was on disability and broke.
They are solid, very easy to work on and fun to hunt with.
Having said all that I don't know if they're SASS legal or not.
The 7mm was introduced in 1892 and used by Spain in the Spanish-American War, so it is period correct if just a little late.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

H&R makes or made a 7x57 mauser in a break action rifle that with only a sight change would be SASS legal for long range matches. you would have to work up a lead bullit load tho. I dought you will find any comersially available. I once had a rolling block in 7 mauser that was a shooter. it only would stabilise the longest bullits.  175 gr or over. DR
