Got a soft spot in my heart for those sidekick types.

Let's not talk about the soft spot in my brain, OK?  ;)

Shoshone...

Ol' Strother was responsible for two of the most enduring lines in films:

"I want that EYE!"

and

"What we got here... is a failure to communicate!"

Curley Cole

Have to say Jack Elam
me him in Durango. We both were waiting for a table in the bar. I went up and told him how much we liked his work (holding the shotgun on Victor French following the Duke.....)
anyway when he got up to go to his dinner table, he stopped at the door, turned around and waved and said "Bye Tony, Bye Phyllis" The girl at the table next to us turned and whispered I hate you, I was afraid to go talk to him.
And my take on that is: he was sitting out in plain sight, and was only having drinks at the time, so was open to visits. If he was eating or something, I would have let him have some privacy...sure was fun.

Jubel

My favorites are #1 Wallace Beery, cause the dirty scoundrel was "true to life as it really was" warts and all   :o, #2 Tom Selleck cause he brought back so many of the old guns Remmies and open tops  ;D, #3 Clint Eastwood for the same reasons  ;). And #4 last but not least, Sam Shepherd cauz he looks like a cowboy even in a business suit!
Cousin we been ashooten at each other all day! How about we stop for a beer then we kin go home and get our axes. Or just as good, lets forget this whole dang feud, I'm agetten too old for this anyhow!

RattlesnakeJack

Jack Elam is right up there for me, but probably my all-time favorite is Ken Curtis, in his role as Festus Haggen, as well as other parts ....

Rattlesnake Jack Robson, Scout, Rocky Mountain Rangers, North West Canada, 1885
Major John M. Robson, Royal Scots of Canada, 1883-1901
Sgt. John Robson, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, 1885
Bvt. Col, Commanding International Dept. and Div.  of Canada, Grand Army of the Frontier

Marshal Guinness Stout - Life SASS #3334

There are just too many in contention in my view, but the following are a few of my favorites.

1. Ben Johnson

2. Robert Duvall

3. Sam Elliot

4. Tom Selleck

5. John Wayne

et al

Too many of them have already joined our maker in paradise.  I'm sure thankful that I've had
the honor and opportunity to meet as many of them as I have in my feeble life.

Long live the westerns!

The Arapaho Kid

Well my favorites go into a gray area.  I like Kirk Douglas (Played Wyatt Earp in Gunfight at the OK Corral) James Garner (Support your local Gunfighter/Sheriff), James Stewart (Cheyenne Social Club) and dipping further into the gray....Jimmie Dodd.  He did a few westerns before becoming the head Mousketeer.
