 Howdy,
I've spent nearly a year with this little pocket gun and am pleased to report that short of just a couple things the little Cobra shines!
I purchased the Chrome standard .38 and in "stock" trim it does all as stated. It's a powerfull pistol shooting the .38 Smith and Wesson Special Cartrige. Full factory loads work flawlessly and with the help of some handloading friends who have worked up soma squib loads allowing the snappy recoiling pistol to be shot more often and for longer periods.
Looking through the Cobra website I noticed severqal optional items were available for different models of the CB38 and I decided to customise it to suit my tastes.
The standard barrel assembly waqs replaced with the 3" Longbore assy for a mere $39 and I bought several sets of grips to change appearances and finally decided upon a Laminated set of Wooden Grips which also help recoil with their Thumb Grooved shape. I now have the choice of either the short "stock" tubes and the option of the more powerfull and easy pointing longbore set accomplished with the removal of a screw. Tjhe Longbore barrel assy needs to be hand fitted to each individual gun but a simple roundfile is all it takes.
Now I mentioned a few problems, these are with handloads and with the length of the lower firing pin. Necessarilly the lower barrel's firing pin is shorter than the top one in order to prevent accidential discharge upon closing the gun. This makes reloads with either deep set primers or deep primer pockets misfire. The cure is to inspect reloaded ammo and only use ammo with primers seated to factory spec's.
The other problem is locating a proper leather holster for the longbore barrels. I have yet to find a proper Western looking holster yet. All are nylon or designed for the small frame derringer. I will continue my search and perhaps have to have a custom holster made.
Speaking of small framed derringers, I have owned a Davis (Former patent holder) .22lr derringer for decades and it's been a reliable pocket companion when afield in snake country and just as a small pocket gun to have along.
From this past history I can expect no less from the D38 and to boot it qualifys for sidematches in CAS!

Drop into the Leather Shop and describe what you are looking for.  Quite a few of the regulars make custom holsters and you should be able to get what you are looking for!  ;D  Nice folks too!
