does anyone have reccomendations for a inexpensive but quality starting set of firearms

Major 2

Assuming you mean SASS and a set means  2 revolvers ,a Lever gun and a Shotgun  :-\ ?
Also I assume you want Cartridge  :-\

My first suggestion is to go to a shoot or several  you may find what you want and or like there.
Next would be follow the Classifieds here and over at Open Range, some good buys show up ..but the really good buys don't last long so jump in and hang on....

Lastly, not sure what you might consider inexpensive ?

OMV Ruger is common and strong as a rock ...they can be found in the $300 + range used in Blue
Uberti Millenniums are good starter Guns, will be found less often but are bargains sometimes @ $250 - $299 used

Leather from Hunter is inexpensive  a Cabala's

If you look some, and it will take a little digging , you might find a Fox or Crescent Tool or old Sears SXS around $250 or less
a Stoeger SXS ( newer import ) or a Russian Baikal in the less than $300 range.

Lever guns here's were the plot thickens.... a bargain would be an older Uberti Yellow boy around $600 and that won't last long !

The Uberti Yellow Boy & even more so the 73, is the CAS gun of choice, they won't be  inexpensive.

Do not be fooled into a Henry Big Boy,  Nice gun, American made, but not for CAS.

You might check out Marlin 1894's  there is a Plain Jane Model sold in the Mid $400's , Winchester Clones like the Puma are  inexpensive

That' my entry level suggestions, other flavor's will vary ..good luck and happy hunting.

thanks for the advice i was actually trying to decide between 357 blackhawks and 1860 army( just so i could look like josy wales), for shotgun i was thinking about a stoeger, and for rife a 357 marlin 1894, but it hold only nine

"actually trying to decide between 357 blackhawks and 1860 army"

That's about as different as night & day, Total different ends of the spectrum.....

Blackhawks will put you in the Modern class which will work with the Marlin 94.

The 60's if your are wanting C&B are a great choice and you'll be good for Frontiersman class,  were the Fish gun won't fit.

As much as I love 1860's ( and the conversions ) and what I shoot, they are not entry level , at least as SASS classes go.

Look for OMV Rugers

The Marlin is a 9 shot .357.
If you laod it with .38 Spl with 125Grain bullets you will be able to get 10 into the magazine comfortably.

For age-base categories:
- Used Ruger Vaqueros (Blackhawks are often cheaper.  Rugers cannot easily be worn out, but they can be modifed beyond use)
- Marlin 1894 (I know two shooters that do well with the 9-shot by practicing loading that tenth round on the clock)
- Cheapest is a single-shot H&R (Read the rulebook, ejector allowed.  Older used SxS's can be tricky as many are worn beyond hard use, Stoeger SxS's are a good deal for around $350).

The problem is that CAS is expensive due to the multiple guns requried, the leather, the cart, the outfits and the reloading.  The real problem is that to compete requires even more serious investment in buying good quality equipment that is suited to the game and then having the equipment tuned.  Many shooters started out sharing long guns and carts before getting their own equipment.

Talk to your local club about a Sodbuster category.  This is something new and informal and allows a dude to shot with only one pistol (Five misses on each stage, no other penalty).   Your local club may know of suitable equipment for sale by other shooters.
