This has most likely been ask but a search turned up nothing so here goes.

Can a Uberti 1858 factory conversion in .44-40 be worked over to shoot .44 Colt/Russian and/or .44spl.
Can the cylinder be reamed and will the barrell be ok with a .428-.430 bullets as the .44WCF is supposed to be .427 dia.

Thanks

The 44-40 chamber is already too large for 44 Special/Russian/Colt at the base.  You would need a new cylinder.  The 44 bore in an Uberti will accept a 44 Special sized bullet.  I wasn't aware that Uberti chambered 44-40 in their factory conversion, but I wasn't watching.

44-40 is too large at the base and 44 Russian/olt/Special are too long to recut the chamber to 44-40.  The bottleneck is interfering with any chamber recuts.

Cimarron offers 44WCF, getting one maybe a different story.

I did find a post where soneone was going to bore a .38spl cylinder to .44 colt/.44spl to use in a Uberti/Cimarron '58 .44-40 conversion so the .44 Colt could be shot.

How did this workout if that member still post here?

Cimarron has gotten 44-40 '58's from Uberti but not too many and they don't have any in stock right now.  I think Taylors had some at one time as well.  When they will get more is hard to say (remember, this is Uberti we're talking about  ;) ).  Also, Uberti has not sent any spare parts to Cimarron (as in Cylinders) for those conversions, other that the parts that would be common to the percussion guns.  You could check VTI to see if they have any.  Cimarron does have .38 Spcl '58 conversions in stock, so if ya got enough bucks and know someone who can bore and reline barrels as well as cylinders, then...

So I guess about the only way to do this is to convert a cap and ball with a Kirst .44 Colt cylinder and shoot hollow base bullets then?
I was looking into that a year or two back. Maybe I will think hard on doing them this time.
If .44 Colts were loaded with hollow base bullets how would they preform in my Uberti 1860 R&M Colt conversions? It would not be  a problem reloading solid base and hollow base bullet rounds but just in case a fellar got some mixed up.
