Will a 1860 45 conversion cylinder fit a Traditions Dance revolver

Our Bass Pro has these guns real cheap. Since it apparently doesn't have a recoil shield, from my research, I thought it might be a good candidate to convert.

Will a 1860 Kirst or Howell slide in there with no problem (other than the typical minor annoyances)?

And if I had a Kirst gated cylinder, do you think I could load / unload the shells without having to clear any metal (ie recoil shield on a typical colt)?

Ask Lisa at VTI if the Uberti or Pietta cylinders will fit a Traditions, then order the appropriate conversion.

The breech will need a bit of a groove, see pictures of Remington conversions (original factory) where Remington removed the enlarged portion of the breech and flat sided the revolver frame, but still needed a groove to reach the cylinder bore for loading.  The Colt frame is wider than the Remington and the center circle is the same.

Flint, man that's one real nice Rem you have there...My next purchase will be one more R&D or Kirst if they make for an 1858 Rem Uberti ... trefer a gated Kirst Uberti Rem NMA in  45Colt carts.

Hey this is Raven. When you call Lisa for info she is going to send you along to me.
Kirst Konverter LLC does not make a conversion for the Dance but with a little information I can tell you if a converter will fit or can be modified to fit.

I need to know the over all length of the cylinder from the back of the ratchet to the muzzle of the cylinder.
Also the diameter of the cylinder, both the rebated portion and the un-rebated portion .
And the diameter of the Arbor pin (Axle that the cylinder rides on)
All measurements need to be in thousanths of an inch.

You will still need to cut a loading groove, just as Flint pointed out.
Kirst Konverter offers an installation service that includes cutting the loading channel for $65

Hope this helps

I don't have the gun yet to take any type of measurements.

Knowing more than I did yesterday, I think I'll pass on this gun

Thanks

Traditions revolvers are made by Pietta.  The 44 Dance has a straight cylinder; it is not rebated like an 1860.

It is quite likely the Dance will use the standard Pietta 1851 cylinder but I would still need the measurements to be sure
