Once again your lack of knowledge amazes me, I am a Westerner, my family moved west to homestead during the time both of the other sides of the country lost their minds.  the reason they did was so they didn't have to deal with that crap in the territories.  This thread took a turn to fun and you don't seem to like it.  I think you better really study that war with an unbiased opinion and get over it, it's all past and I didn't have anything to do with it and neither did you.

Just last weekend my young helper showed up in this outfit, since you are such an expert I doubt I need to explain the unit who wore this outfit:

And he planted the flag he made over winter:

Had he wore a different uniform, which he has many of from both sides, he would have planted the Stars and Stripes had that been the proper flag.  No unwad your panties and let the tread continue in the fun vein it has taken.

Using food in ammunition!  Phfaw!  Ammunition is for getting more food, not wasting on frivolities.

Been out of country for a while, so just getting caught up.  Good thing I just ate a bowl of buffalo, braised with chilis for lunch or I would have been ravenous after reading this thread (Donner Party, your table is ready).
Well, I have grown up in Tennessee and Illinois.  When living in Tennessee, a fine southern family decided these poor Yankee chillen needed some edumacatin.    We were schooled on Grits, biscuits, etc.    While I am presently cutting back on carbohydrates, i would suggest some serving suggestions for grits.

#1, my favorite.   a little butter, some dark KARO corn syrup, and hot sauce.  Sweet and hot is TASTY!!!!!
#2, Red Eye gravy.    Take some real good southern ham-Virginia ham for example.   Usually you need to soak this for a while.    Save some of the soaking liquid.  Now, take a 1/2 cup of gooooooood cowboy coffee, a dash of the soaking liquid and  1/2 a cup of some thick chicken stock.   (really make this your self, but if not, get a good low sodium chicken stock.    Now fry that ham in a cast iron skillet, (don't forget to be cooking your grits by now).  put the ham on a plate and deglaze your skillet with the liquid mixture.   Reduce by half and season with pepper.   Plate up your grits next to your ham and ladle on some redeye gravy.

As to shooting, I only shoot cap and ball revolvers and have never noticed a difference with or without fillers.    In my armies, I load 28 grains BP, a lubricated wad and ball.   I don't normally put anything on the end, but bought three hundred precut wads of wax by mistake and used them last time I shot.   Seemed to keep any fouling soft.   Same on my navies, never saw a need to add filler.   Now you guys who seem obsessed with this new fangled cartridge technology, maybe you need them there, but i think you are wasting your money, it will never catch on.
