I just received a new spare cylinder for my Uberti 58 Rem New Army. It fits alittle tight in the frame and on the cylinder pin. I have to force the cylinder pin to go in all the way and it's hard to pull back out. I was thinking of taking a round file to the hole so the pin will slide easier, also I might take some emery cloth to the pin. If I remove the bluing on it, will it rust up ?

Hi Slow Shot,

If this is to be a spare cylinder I wouldn't do any thing that would change the fit of the original cylinder.

To fit it correctly I would measure the length of the original cylinder and adjust the length of the replacement to match. This may require a trip to the machine shop for some lathe work or you may be able to sand it down on a flat surface with some 220 paper.
After checking for burrs in the arbor pin holes,  try polishing the hole using some fine paper on a mandrel turned by a drill. Worst case is that the hole may need to be reamed to size.

Likely you will be able to fit it your self. Anyway if you need to go to the machinist the work shouldn't break the bank.

Use cold blue to reblue.

If you use a round file in the hole you will end up with an expensive paper wieght. Definatly don't use a file on the end of the cylinder!

Good Luck!
