Enjoying the site and your posts and comments.
I own 3 Colt Peacemakers, 2 2nd Gen. and 1 3rd Gen.
Since January, I have been competing with my new US Pre War, 51/2",  Nickel, Engraved .357's.
Beautiful sixguns, best I've ever owned. They shoot exactly point of aim and hit plates at 50 yards.
I will get my nephew to post pictures soon.
I hope your health is on the mend.

I was under the impression that USFA does not offer the .357 Magnum chambering?

I have a matched pair of them.
Barrell roll  exactly as it was on Colt Peacemakers in 1935 (the year the .357 appeared)

From what I have read, USFA discontinued them a while back. I'm not sure exactly when. It's a shame, I have noticed that a few people would like to order a USFA in .357 Magnum.

How were 1st gen. Colt's marked in .357?  I have a S&W Registered Magnum, and it is marked .357 S&W Magnum if I recall correctly.   Somewhere along the line, S&W was dropped from the name.

Howdy Duke,

Thanks for the concern. My health is actually improving, and feeling better every day. Now if I could lose some of the weight I have put on since I quit smoking, I'd really be happy!  ;)

As I have mentioned before, I've got a U.S.Pt.F.A. IN .357 Magnum, and feel pleased and lucky to have it. One of those that you don't see every day.
Glad to have you here as a member of the USFA CSS board. Enjoy yourself!  :)

Barrel Roll:-     357 S & W CTG.
Ordered November 2007.
Received September 2009 due to full engraving.
.357 available on special order, as were mine.
Firing pins concave.
I have shot magnums through them, but use .38 Spl for Cowboy Action Shooting.

"357 S & W CTG."

I really like that the they included the S & W in the name.  I pulled out my Registered Magnum, and the rollmark reads "S & W .357 MAGNUM."  For those who may be unaware, the Registered Magnum was the original .357 revolvers that were sold from 1935-1940.  Colt also marketed the SAA and the Shooting Master in .357 during the same time period.

Duke York, you mentioned the .357 being available on special order, do you know if this is still the case?

They were not a stock item when I ordered 3 of them. However, USFA  had a dual cylinder available in .357.
(I carried a nickel S&W .357 Combat Magnum for over 30 years. Love the cartridge.)
When I decided to start competeing with .38 Spl in Cowboy Action Shooting (after 16 years of competing with .44's) I spoke with Gary and he agreed to make them in 357 for me. I did not want .38 Special on my barrel's. When received, I was delighted to find the original Colt Peacemaker calibre marking on the barrel's.
Talk to Gary, he looked after this Australian, I'm sure he will oblige.

The roll mark on my barrel reads: "For 357 S & W CTG.", and then on the left side of the trigger guard, ".38 CAL"

Mine are just marked 357 S & W CTG.       no "    "        and no reference anywhere to .38.
Is yours an all American made sixgun or a transition?
Anyway, the USFA quality control has always been superb, even with the Italian frames etc.
My USFA 357's are better guns than my beloved 2nd Gen Colt Peacemakers.

Glad to hear you are on the mend! Stay away from those tailor made cigarettes. I'm a cigar man.

All the USPFAs and USFAs are American made, it's just the USFPAs were made with Uberti parts. The quality on my USPFA seems every bit as good as the quality on my USFAs.

I wouldn't mind trying a cigar now and then.  It's been almost a year, but I still miss my cigs.  :-\
