PHOTOGRAPH IS OF GEORGE H. GROSS AND HIS WIFE. BOTH ARE DRESSED IN TYPICAL WESTERN STYLE CLOTHES OF THE LAST 19TH CENTURY.

GEORGE H. GROSS WAS A PRIVATE IN THE SEVENTH CAVALRY, COMPANY 1, THE SOLDIERS THAT DIED WITH CUSTER AT HIS LAST STAND.

GROSS WAS BORN IN GERMANY IN 1845 AND ENLISTED ON OCTOBER 18th 1872. HE DIED AT THE AGE OF 31 YEARS AT THE BATTLE OF LITTLE BIGHORN ON JUNE 25TH 1876.

"GROSS & WIFE" IS WRITTEN ON PHOTOGRAPH'S BACK.
