Joseph Little, my Mother's, Mother's Father, served in
Company A  4th Regiment of  (Union) Tennessee Cavalry.
Thomas Elijah Barton, my Mother's, Father's Father, served in
Company H (Wilson's Company) of the 21st , then 22nd (Confederate)
Tennessee Cavalry.
I have to guess that they must have talked about the war or maybe even shot at
each other.
It's an odd world.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Capt. Montgomery Little

Shotgun,  Interesting to hear of your Great Grandfathers as I have somewhat of the same situation. Great Grandfather Thomas Arrowood (full blood Cherokee) rode with 5th Reg. of Tenn. Mounted Inf. (US). Two other ancesters were Confederate: Capt. Montgomery Little was Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest's friend and Commander of his Escort Company (only person killed in 1863 at Battle of Thompson's Station, TN).  Also Gen. Lewis Henry Little killed at Iuka, MS while serving as 1st Division commander under Gen. Sterling Price. Both were plantation owners just outside of St. Louis, MO prior to war and close friends.

Reguards,
LTC Montgomery Little, Senior Chaplain, GAF
                                  Commander, Division of MO., GAF
