I just posted my handling impressions of the first of a pair ofTaylor's 44-40 '63 conversions I ordered. If you're interested, take a look so I don't have to repost here.

Just found an article in the fall 2007 issue of GOTOW on the Taylor's Uberti Remington cartridge conversions ....

The reason the gun is larger is that Uberti wanted to chamber 6 rds without off-setting the chambers like the R&D version. That meant an increase in cylinder diameter to .046" (mine miked at .049"), a corresponding larger hole in the frame (forged, BTW) and an increase in the thickness of the top strap.
Not strictly historic, the design is a compilation of conversion features from both Remington and other conversions. The gun is so well designed and finished that I can live with that.
Now we have to get holster makers to wise up to the larger gun ...... but I'm told that a holster for an 1875 will fit.

The 2nd of two Taylor's 44-40 conversions arrived today. Beautiful, just like the other! Best part - it's consecutively numbered with the 1st!
How great is that? The dealer obviously didn't know as I believe 'pairs' have to be specially ordered; or they didn't expect to sell them together.
Now if it would just stop snowing .....
