  amin, your question are always welcomed here Pal, there are no such things as dumb or stupid questions or asking too many questions around here, like they say the only dumb question is the one you don't ask, questions not only help you , but others too that maybe don't join in , but still want to learn, we all have to start at the beginning, I may have a little start on the rest of you, because I spent 45 years cutting beef up, and now I'm working on there hides, boy do I have a lot of catching up to do, but then this is fate for me, you see I'm also a Taurus the Bull, I was meant to spend my life fooling around with BEEF, go figure, So ask away, and I/we will do our best to help you along the way.

As to sun - I have the good luck of living at almost 7,000 feet above sea level in Southern Colorado and the sun is intense most of the time, but when it's not I have a "light" box - basically a wooden box with a glass lid that I lined with aluminum foil to reflect back as much light as possible.........I used it to good effect even when I lived much farther north in the very cloudy Pacific Northwest - it helped a lot........

   Chuck that light box would be a great idea, for Winter months, I built one for taking my pictures, but you could also use it your way too just by using foil in place of translucent plastic or white sheets, one could use this for both uses.

  Wayne your a Taurus too, dang how about that, no wonder you like leather.

  Wad, who knows pard maybe I am just an old soul from another time, I'll have to do some thinking on that I always said I was born a 150 years to late, maybe there is some truth to that.

I mix a bit of EVOO in my dye for a better coverage  and regular dye for the rest of the color ya want.

Not too much oil here, too much is too much.

I have a knife sheath I just finished up in EVOO, will post it later on the showm thread.

Well you should have posted this down in Cosie's Corner where we understand cooking oils.   Just a thought, Olive oil of any kind is a true non-drying oil, so it don't oxidizes like other oils, I'm guessing that might be the clue here.  All other common cooking oils will oxidize and form a film.  Not a bad thing either, I use Canola oil on my wooden kitchen knife handles, stay in place through many washings in hot water.

See under it's former name Rape Seed Oil it was used as a protectant from salt water in paints and such, was the best before modern synthetic paints. It works better than even soy bean oil for this, another one that was used to paint millions of Ford and Mopar cars and trucks from the 1930 to the 1960's and even later in cheap paint jobs.  I hope this may help and now folks know why I never use Canola oil or soy bean oil to cook in, it's just pain't that ain't finished yet.
