A SIXTH PLATE TIN OF A YOUNG MAN HOLDING WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE A PLANT REVOLVER. THE IMAGE DOES HAVE EMULSION LOSS BUT IT IS STABLE.SOLDIER,MINER?YOU DECIDE.
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I require the same of them."

Depending on his size, that could be a J.P. Lower revolver.  They were made by Uhlinger in 1862-84 and marked with other names to avoid Smith and Wesson detection for patent infringement.  I have one that was my Grandfather's.   Looks similar

Is that a Slim Jim holster? It looks like it's probably much longer than the gun.

The image of the revolver in this photo is pretty washed & fuzzy..the Plant revolver has a distinctive cartridge ejector on the right side, mounted on the frame, behind the cylinder. If someone can ID that feature we'd have a better idea.

Otherwise, shape, size, grip do look like a Plant.  I've shot one that was converted to (I believe) .41 RF using the Dixie Gun Works cartridge cases.

He's a pleasant looking guy though. Nearly smiling.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.
