Rossi M-92 Carbine 20

Morning
I have a pal just getting into CAS . He is looking at this lever gun.
I know nothing about it . Any one here had any experience with it.

Appreciate the comments so I can pass it on to him.

I briefly owned an older Rossi 39 lever gun and for the short time I had it I liked its feel.
Thanks again

Dutchy, The Rossi has been made in Brazil for many a year and the 92 model is one fine gun. I have owned several of them. They might bear names like Puma, EMF, LSI, and Navy arms but those are the importers and they are the same gun made by Rossi. With some of the guns you can go straight to shooting matches and others need a little smoothing out. They are the cheapest way to start in SASS with rifles selling from $385 and up. I have one that is slick as butter and can be cycled with one finger. The 92 is also the strongest of all the Winchester type rifles and can be used with hunting loads for deer and wild boars. Go to Steve's Gun Shop (STEVEZGUNS.COM) and buy his DVD on the rifle. Worth every penny if you own and shoot 92's. Later david

I have a emf version short rifle, I really like it. Great starter gun, if running to fast it can throw the next round out, or jam. There are smiths that can take care of smoothing them up, so the average shooter will have no problems.

I bought an alleged "Rossi '92" back in the mid 90's.  On closer inspection at home I found small engraving on the bottom tang that read "Rossi Model 65 SRC" - (Saddle Ring Carbine?).  It even has a little steel plug in the frame where a saddle ring would have been mounted.  It is caliber 45 Colt.  It was pretty stiff when new but after only around 200 rounds it's pretty smooth now.  I paid around $300 for it new.  I got no complaints.   8)

Hi Dutchy,  Haven't been on this site for a while, just saw your post re Rossi 92.  I have one in .38/.357 and it works great with an OAL of 1.5   I use .357 cases and it is flawless however, under a 1.5 OAL it would stove pipe.  My Marlin 94CB is now my backup and it shoots any length.

Cheers!
