This is a Remington Buffalo revolver.  I added a shoulder stock and needed something to carry it in.  Arizona Cattleman's scabbard inspired me.  This has rawhide Texas Stars with a star diamond border.  This is my first attempt at a toe plug, that is where I put my makers mark.  That was a task unto itself.   I am hoping toe plugs get easier with experience.

That is some very nice work Mo.  I really like simple, classy decoration and your scabbard fills the bill.  I also like the color. That is something I have been fighting with here lately for some reason.
Anyhow, great job it really looks good.
Lost..... I ain't never been lost...... fearsome confused fer a month er two once... but I never been lost.

Awesome little scabbard! I like the rawhide star too!

Very nice job, Mo. That is a good design for that shootin' iron. The color is very suitable. As to the toe plug, Yeah, they get easier. Sort of... ;D

Thanks for all the comments.   I have struggled over the years with getting even dye jobs.   I have settled on the Eco-Flow Hi-Lite stains from Tandy.  I use a spray bottle and wet the leather lightly then using a piece of wool spread the dye, let sit a bit and wipe off with another piece of wool.   This is the Chestnut Tan and is my favorite so far.   I used to tend towards black, hid the mistakes and played into my villianish character.   Now I embrace the mistakes, okay not really but they don't bother me as much anymore.

Did ya know if when you see yourself in the mirror it's backwards and is not what you look like to other people? If you can live with that you can live with the mistakes ;D Drives my wife nuts :D :P Should of never told her ::)

I sure don't see any mistakes on this piece. I'll have to give that Eco Flow Hi Lite stain a try to do some lighter colored work.

I appreciate the sentiments, but the mistakes are most definitely there.  But I am sure we are all our own worst critics.   But I am glad to say I feel as I get better each time I do something and that feels good.  I am hoping to wrap up my 1860 holster this weekend.   It is only my third attempt at tooling and it was not a small project.    More this weekend.
