I have a gun that was my Dads....sorry it's not CAS.

You see I gave the model 999 H&R revolver 22 LR to my Dad for Christmas about 1971.
It replaced one he had when he was a young man, and let get away.

Dad passed in 1986 ,and the gun was handed back to me, it has not been fired in maybe 30 years.
It has been in a sock in closet, pretty much as he had it.

I took it down to shoot awhile back, and it is having issues it will not pull back to battery in SA or will it cycle in DA
the trigger will rotate the Cylinder...I pulled the grip scales and clean it with Ed's Red and Areo Kroil.
It functioned a time or two the back to the same issue.
The hammer coil spring appears to move forward and bind and there is what appears to a white nylon ball or catch bearing up in the frame.
The Gun is otherwise in great shape, bluing ,grips ,bore etc.

Obviously, the gun has great meaning to me..and I need a Gunsmith to repair it.... Orlando, Fla maybe ?

It does not have screws but rather pins..so I'm not ready to tackle the repair.

Don't fear the pins...

Just use 'slave pins' made from round toothpicks.

These little revolvers were made like little sub-assemblies - so slave pins 'will' work.

Numrich has a myriad of spare parts - mostly new - so any replacement parts should be readily available.

The NRA's 'Handgun Disassembly Guide' should be able to walk you through any repairs.

Most so-called 'gunsmiths' won't/don't work on these and if they do - you'll be charged through the nose, and they'll be looking at the same references I suggest.

Yes - that one.

And 'tell' Numrich what you have - they'll help.

Just read the portion in the book and go slowly - it's fairly easy.

Many thanks to Bill English "Happy Trails"
The old 999 was returned to me this morning, repaired & upgraded..

Seems there is or was, a plastic part (I believe call the main spring saddle) these are notorious for breaking.
H&R made the fix some time after this gun was manufactured.
Hap. installed the new upgraded part, polished the hammer and cleaned the minor surface rust.

I'm please to return this gun to battery after 30 years , and shoot it with fond memories, ;D

And thanks to St. George for stearing me to the book to understand what the issue was   :)

De Nada.

H&R would find a workable design and by God, they'd stick with it - up-dating as needed.

The available spares are all easily fitted, so just get a schematic - or draw pictures of parts relationships - and go slowly.

They 'want' to go back to work - glad yours is ready for more service.
