Uberti 1875 springs

Howdy,

I have a Uberti Remington 1875, 45 Colt, 5.5" barrel. I am finding the action spring fairly stiff compared to the Uberti Colt 1873 I have. Will the same Wolf or other makers spring kit fit both revolvers? I'm not going to open either up until my gunsmith screwdriver set arrives.

I would kind of like to order all the parts from one place one time if possible. Any suggestions? What spring kits do you like for either of these guns? They look fairly new, (within 10 years), if that helps.

I would like to tackle the work myself. I want to become familiar with the innards and all that. Thanks

Can't help with the "where to buy"....I've never used an aftermarket mainspring.....I use a coarse sanding drum to reduce the power, until it is exactly the way I want it. Hold the spring in my hand, when it's too hot to hold, let it cool down. Then continue.
Generall, I leave the other springs alone.

VTI Gun Parts sells a reduced power mainspring (hammer pull) that I've used in two current production Uberti '75 clones.
I've been real happy with the results in these two, however, I've also tried them in two much older ('75 & '76 production) Uberti made clones with less than satisfactory results. These aftermarket mainsprings are either a tad too short compared to the original (early production) mainsprings, or the machining on the part that the forward end of the spring engages is shaped just differently enough to make the spring slip and not work very well.
VTI also sells all other parts for Uberti made revolvers, and I've found their service to be top notch.

The colt clone spring will work (yes it is thinner where it slips into the bottom of the grip frame). The tension screw will allow you to adjust it and this will hold it in place, of course so will the grips. Try a Wolf "reduced power" one then adjust to your liking with the tension screw.

Or just sand it so it has a "waist" (like a corset). When it gets too hot to hold quench in a cup of water.
I use a one inch beltsander and sand where there is no backplate. Keep your edges rounded and you'll be good to go!

Thank you gentlemen. I will look in to the VTI springs. I will then have the "take out" springs for spare. I can try sanding them down a bit and see how that goes.

Having looked into it a bit more.

Wolff has spring kits available that also give you the sear bolt spring, mainspring, base spring, hand ejector spring. The sear bolt spring is available in flat or wire.
The kits also differentiate between Colt and Uberti. They do not mention an 1875, but I assume some of it will fit.

For an 1875, would I be better off with a Uberti kit or a Colt?
For an 1875 or an 1873, would I be better off with a flat or wire sear bolt spring?
Would I be better off getting one of each?
Anything else I should know?
Thanks

Don't do it! The rest of the springs are very different.........

Thank you. I definitely won't now.

Maybe an 1875 specific kit will surface?

Sorry to be the bearer.................
Don't hold yer breath ;)

You really don't need springs, just someone who understands the timing and what parts can and can't be massaged.

Reduce the mainspring tension a bit and see if that makes you "warm and fuzzy".
