WOW! What a beauty!  I always love looking at photos of what some of you fellas come up with . . . you did a fantastic job!  It looks like it grew that way!  Now that you're done with it and probably on to a new project . . . can you just mail it to me and I'll keep it cleaned for you?   ;D  It really is a beautiful piece to be proud of!

Could you detail the cylinder pin retainer set-up?  I cut off a '58 barrel years ago before my brain was fully formed, and turned out just shy of  adequate to get out the pin.  I discovered it after cutting the dovetail, inserting the rammer retainer latch and cutting and fitting the rammer system.  It looks fine, but, while I can get the cylinder out, it makes cleaning adequately a real chore, as I move the pin in and out with lots of bore butter and, well I think you can get the idea without further description.  Shortening the barrel even more wouldn't bother me a bit if I could attach as good looking a pin retainer.

Barbarosa,

It uses a New Model Kirst converter, A 5 shot .45 Colt with a gated ring, the gate has an internal thumb groove so that it can be used Pale rider style without cutting a loading groove or as with this gun you can cut the channel and use it as a breach loader.

Jamie,

The latch is a discontinued item from the Kirst Converter Company called a speed latch. The good news is that I have a small number of them left. The one in this pistol has been modified by rounding off the front end and serating it for a better grip.
If you want on send me a PM and I'll set you up.
