Hey fellers,....

I never really use evoo only for stain/color etc,...

what are you guys putting on after the evoo,..for a weather-proofing?....over the evoo?

I normally do either resolene,...or tan cote...or super sheen,...over atom wax(when using standard dies and finishes)

I go back & forth between EVOO, Bee-Natural Saddle Oil and Neatsfoot. So far I can't tell any difference between the three. Afterwards I like Skidmores. EVOO is the cheapest of the three.

I have quite a bit of luck with evoo followed by aussie. I leave a good coat of aussie on overnight then buff and repeat.

I'm thinking I'll do a rig soon with just evoo,....I like the looks i've seen others achieve with it. I was just really wondering about what the top coat is ya'll are using. I have skidmores on hand too,..so Ii may go that route.

ps,....I always have plemty neatsfoot oil around, and if you spill a little.......ANTS apparently LOVE the stuff!!!! ;D

I mix a little dye in my EVOO, just one coat tho and add more dye as I get the color I want.

Too much evooo is too much.

I have a couple of holster ready for some color, might just do a test on a scrap piece of leather

When I put EVOO on, it's the last thing. All I do then is to buff it after it soaks in. I don't like an unnatural shine on my finishes.

If you go back trhough the Show yer Stuff thread and look at Marshall Will's rigs, you just can't go wrong with his advice

Thanks, JD. I do have to say that a lot of pards are doing different things and getting great results. Here's a thread that covers caring for leather, including oils and other stuff. It's a very good thread to read.

Thanks for the input,....I'm reading back some threads......

To me,..the finish is always the hardest part to get like I want. Assembly, sewing,....everything else seems easy,..until I start with the finish.

JD Alan

None of it is really easy for me yet, but I agree that the finish is the hardest part

I started the finish on the holster, so far so good,4 more to go.

Should be done by Spring.
