here is an Idea I've been laboring with... (and the issue is it's not period)
I just have not hit on the look ....
trying to come up with CWC holster (read devised & disguised belt box)  not a butt bag or holster shape per say.
something along the lines of a CW cartridge box ...inside it will hold the S&W upright & snugly like a pocket holster does,
but it does not print gun on the outside....

I've looked at camera & cell phone cases and not quite hit on the idea , but does mimic the sleuth idea.
I looked at tool holders too , seems just to intrigue , but no patterns seem to come from it.....

so... there you have it ....small box shape, that would appear perfectly natural in every day casual wear , strong side belt carry.
not overly big....

Good idea Major2, you would want the gun to be deep enough in the pouch/box case to be concealed, and not show an impression, you could make a holster inside the box and have a flap over with a snap or Sam Brown button, I think it would look nice to, and could be taken for a camera or binocular case, you see a lot pards and women using belly bags for this, it doesn't stand out as a holster and really goes unnoticed, I think your idea is a good one, although it won't be as fast to access, but at least you would be armed.

Ironically, the only thing I have ever carried my wifes little .22 Cobra derringer in is a CW pouch just like you are talking. I hadnt thought about making one with the thought of carrying a pistol, but its probably a good idea. Put a small spot on it for a cell phone, and noone would look twice.

Could you fit it in a McKeever style box? That would drop open and expose a holster nicely.

Could you make some sort of a molded pouch big enough to hold the pistol? It would be rectangular in shape and have a holster style molded pocket sewn to the backing. Attached is a rough sketch along with pictures of a molded pouch.

Howdy Maj.,
I don't know if you're familiar with the CZ 82,
but it came with a 'keystone' shaped leather
holster. The pistol actually could fit in it either
RH or LH with a mag inside also. Substitute a
speed strip for the mag(or not)and it might
work.
