Howdy all,
Just got done slicking my father-in-laws Stoager using Maurader's tips and it turned out well. :)

Now my son-in-law would like me to take a look at his Remington 220.
Any tips out there??

Thanks,
RR

Yep.  Leave it the heck alone until the August match & Hollidaysburg and I'll show you what to do.  Some of 'em are fairly straight forward and some take a bunch of work.

Most important tip.   LEAVE THE MAIN SPRINGS ALONE!!

Hey Coffinmaker,
I think I'll leave that main springs alone.  :)

I did see on Maurader's page some info on slicking this thing and he basiclly said the same about those springs.
I did some of the things he said but will wait to see you at the next shoot to give me final details to do.
It's better but I  there is still more work to do. ;)

Here is a link to Mauraders page on the Remington,Spartan and Baikal

One thing on this page he recommends is Papa Dave's papadave@bellsouth.net cocking levers. Papa Dave makes them that when you snap open the barrel it stays open. One nice thing is he sends you the levers at no charge and after you install them and try them you send him 24.95 if they work or send them back if they don't. He even includes a self addressed stamped envelope when you receive your levers.
Guess what? Mine worked!  ;D   I emailed him on Sunday and had the cocking levers on Thursday. Takes about 5 or 10 minutes to install.
He includes directions with the levers.

Does Papa Dave's have a website? Does anyone have photos of the stock hammers versus the Papa Dave's?

Papa Dave's cocking levers are not hammers.  The cocking levers are located in the front of the action at the hinge area where the forearm is mated to the aciton.  You can see them when the barrels are removed.

Papa Dave doesn't have a website only email.

does anyone have a current e-mail or phone number for Papa Daves?

This should get you in touch with Papa Dave.  Give him a day to check his email.

Thanks for the info.

Can I polish the bores on the SPR? Will it damage the chrome?
